Fees, rates & limits

Larger amounts than the maximum are not processed automatically. If you need more, contact support first and we will tell you whether we can accommodate it.

• Our rate is set manually by our team, not by a live market feed.
• It is based on the prevailing USD/ZAR market rate at the time we set it, adjusted for the cost and risk of receiving PayPal funds (including reversal and chargeback risk) and for local payout costs.
• The rate is the same for every customer — there is no negotiated or tiered pricing.
• Because it is set manually, the rate can change at any time, including between the moment you view it and the moment you send funds.
• The rate shown on your exchange screen is the rate we intend to honour for approximately 25 minutes from submission. If the market moves sharply or your payment arrives much later, we will contact you before proceeding.

• The percentage fee above is the only charge SwapXchange adds. There is no signup, verification, account or withdrawal fee.
• EFT payouts to your South African bank account are paid by us — we do not deduct a separate payout fee.
• PayPal may charge its own fees on your side depending on how you send the payment. Those fees belong to PayPal and are outside our control, and we can only exchange the amount that actually arrives.
• If a payment must be refunded, PayPal's own fees on the original payment are generally not recoverable — see the refund policy.

• Exchanges are reviewed and paid out manually by our team.
• Exchanges submitted outside operating hours are queued for the next session.
• Your first exchange takes longer because bank verification is completed before payout.
• Bank processing times are outside our control and can add delay.
