About SwapXchange
SwapXchange is a currency-exchange service that converts PayPal USD balances into South African Rand and pays out by EFT to local bank accounts.
What SwapXchange is
We are a small, independent exchange service. You send us your PayPal USD, we verify that the sender, the PayPal account and the receiving bank account all belong to the same person, and we transfer the Rand equivalent to your South African bank account.
We are not a bank, a wallet, or a PayPal partner. We do not hold balances for customers and we do not offer investment products.
The problem we solve
- Most South African banks cannot receive PayPal withdrawals directly, or make the process slow and difficult.
- Freelancers and online sellers are often paid in USD through PayPal but need spendable Rand.
- Informal exchanges carry a real risk of fraud on both sides, with no verification of who is actually sending or receiving the money.
We handle the conversion end-to-end with identity and bank verification, at a rate and fee published openly on our fees page.
How the service works
- Create an account using your full name exactly as it appears on your PayPal account and your bank account.
- Add your bank details and upload a recent bank statement so we can verify the account holder.
- Once verified, start an exchange: enter the USD amount and see the Rand payout before you send anything.
- Send the PayPal payment to the recipient shown on the exchange page and submit the PayPal transaction ID.
- We confirm receipt, then pay the Rand amount to your verified bank account by EFT.
Every transaction is processed manually
There is no automated settlement engine behind SwapXchange. A person on our team checks each PayPal payment, matches it to your account, and releases the EFT by hand. This is deliberate — manual review is how we catch name mismatches and reversal attempts — but it has consequences you should plan around:
- Exchanges are processed during our operating hours only. Anything submitted outside those hours is queued for the next session.
- Most payouts complete quickly, but timing depends on our team and on bank processing, so it is not instant or guaranteed.
- First-time exchanges take longer because verification happens before the payout.
Where the business is today
SwapXchange is a young, growing service launched in 2026 and run by a small team. We think you are entitled to know exactly what that means:
- We are not regulated, licensed, insured, audited or certified by any financial authority, and we hold no partnerships or endorsements from PayPal or any bank.
- Exchange volumes and limits are intentionally modest while we build a track record.
- Processing is manual and capacity depends on staff availability.
- Customer reviews on Trustpilot are independent and unedited by us.
Please read our risk disclosure before you transact, and only exchange amounts you are comfortable sending.
